Merry Christmas!

Well, the inevitable Christmas is upon us.

This year, Eric and I took advantage of the whole weekend before Christmas to clean my apartment and decorate it. The decoations will up until at least the weekend after new years, which I think will be my holiday party (though since it falls the Tuesday before a payday, we'll see if it is a potluck or not :). More on that to come.

This year, I was lacking a bit in the holiday money. cash I thought was coming in isn't coming in until MLK day, so eric and I postponed Christmas to Arbor day. I didn't get to go wrap presents (because I was too lazy to try to find a place to do it) and I purchased mostly books for my family. Except the Mezcal with the worm. I love having a sister who's 21.

So, I tried to make up for the lack of holiday charity in my life in one way - I sent my hair to locks of love yesterday. So, I now have slighty-above my shoulders hair (which, having showered half-an-hour ago...is almost dry!!) which falls into my face, but I sent about a foot (and an untoward number of pounds ;) of hair to the people who make hairpieces for the kids with cancer (or whatever). The goal is to grow my hair down my back (again) and then donate at least once more before the gray takes over. I assume it will take about two years to grow back. We'll see what my parents say (since I forgot to mention it to them when I called them last night :).

As for my friends on Christmas - there are many that I miss. Some, I havent spoken to in years. Some - we'll be getting together for our post-family christmas eve ritual beer. Some - I can't see because they're not around anymore. Some - will be with me the whole time. Some - are too far away. So to everyone, I love you :). And have a wonderful weekend.

Just as an ender, I did appreciate the true meanings of christmas.

where is that tenderness?

Alright, so we haven't exactly had the most productive website in the world. That's what is so great about having your own website. You can do whatever you damn well please with it.

Its kinda like when you have a weekend to yourself. The weekend prior to Thanksgiving, Eric was supposed to be writing his paper, so I stayed home. Saturday, I cooked breakfast for LeShawn and then we hit The Book Thing before she went to church. We went in and picked up about 20-25 books each, dumped them in the trunk, went back to the book thing and picked up another 25 or so more. I won't go through them book-by-book, but my personal pickups ranged from political books (Backstairs at the Whitehouse, a Reagan scandal book, one of Kennedy's books), including a biography of Cissy Patterson (not really political, but media-related) to mindless novels -- which should hopefully be read and then recycled again. Unfortunately, they didn't leave the car until this morning. So what do I need for Christmas, Santa? Bookshelves.

Then travelling to Massachusetts came on for thanksgiving. Lots of visiting with eric's family and friends. Mirth ensues. I discovered that I can sleep on a plane. Whenever/whereever I want on the plane. And its very nice when I sleep tarmac to tarmac. What we also learned on this trip -- DO NOT GO SEE THE MOVIE ALEXANDER. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. It was - quite possibly - the worst movie I have ever seen. Call me for details, but just don't see it -- please!
